My personal mission in counselling is to facilitate growth, resilience, and well-being in individuals by creating a safe and empathetic space for self-exploration and healing. I believe in an integrative approach, drawing from different therapeutic modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs and preferences. My approach is grounded in active listening, non-judgmental support, and collaborative goal setting. I see my role as a counsellor as empowering clients to tap into their inner strengths, develop coping strategies, and gain a deeper understanding of themselves. Ultimately, I aim to inspire positive change, promote mental and emotional health, and guide individuals on their journey towards greater self-awareness and a more fulfilling life.

Get To Know Me Personally

  • I am passionate about martial arts training, spending time outdoors, healthy eating and practicing mindful awareness.

  • I chose to become a counsellor because of my deep passion for helping people navigate life’s challenges. From a young age, I have been drawn to listening, understanding, and providing support for those facing difficult situations. As I matured, I realized that being a counsellor would allow me to utilize these innate qualities in a meaningful way. Witnessing the positive impact of counselling in my own life and in the lives of others further solidified my decision. I believe that being a counsellor enables me to empower individuals to overcome obstacles, find inner strength, and lead more fulfilling lives.

  • My personal growth, my positive mindset, and my ability to remain open and curious about the world.

  • Growing up, I rebelled against conventional wisdom. As an adolescent youth, I neglected to develop the day-to-day healthy habits that I now believe are important for living a good life. This incongruence definitely led to some painful moments. As an adult, I tend to focus more on the daily habits that I trust will work. By doing so, I am usually able to hold a perspective of mindful awareness. As a result of focusing on the present moment and trusting the process, I rarely worry about the future anymore.

  • When I’m not working, you can often find me exploring the outdoors and hiking with my partner. Hiking allows me to connect with nature, offering moments of serenity during the hustle of life. I also enjoy training in martial arts and challenging myself both physically and mentally. Martial arts training helps me stay focused and disciplined. When I’m not hiking or training, I enjoy listening to podcasts on science and philosophy. I enjoy learning new ideas and perspectives that expand my understanding of the world around me. I currently volunteer with MAPS Canada as part of their Community of Practice dedicated to Health Canada’s Special Access Program for psychedelic medicines.

  • One important aspect of counselling is that progress may not be linear. Therapy is a journey, and there may be moments when it feels challenging or like you’re not making immediate breakthroughs. It’s entirely normal to have ups and downs. Real change often takes time and effort, and setbacks can provide valuable insights. Trust the process and maintain open communication with your counsellor about your feelings and concerns. Your counsellor will help you navigate these moments and ensure you continue on your path towards your goals. Patience and persistence are key to getting the most out of counselling.

  • I am interested in how people are thinking about the world. Counselling allows me to have interesting and meaningful conversations. I thoroughly enjoy gaining a deeper understanding of the different ways that individuals navigate life’s challenges.

  • Motivating, supportive, communicative and respectful.

  • “Think of yourself as dead. You have lived your life. Now, take what’s left and live it properly. What doesn’t transmit light creates its own darkness” – Marcus Aurelius

Context: I have always been interested in Stoic philosophy. I find this quote impactful in several ways. It encourages a profound perspective shift. It prompts individuals to imagine themselves as having already lived, motivating them to make the most of their remaining time by living with purpose and integrity. The second part of the quote highlights the idea that negativity or ignorance (what doesn’t transmit light) can lead to personal darkness or unhappiness, emphasizing the importance or positivity and enlightenment.
