Everyone goes through changes in life. For me, the biggest change I ever faced was moving from India to Canada during my teenage years. Understanding the new culture here and trying to fit in were difficult for me; however, I eventually learned how to cope with such changes. Many other people have also faced situations involving change; however, not everyone is able to cope with it at the same level – that is okay! I bring an empathetic approach to my therapy, using a combination of various therapies as well as developing a trustworthy relationship with my clients to support them with whatever they may be going through. Knowing what I went through previously, I want to be a resource of hope and support for those working with me to empower them to develop the skills they need to work through their current struggles. My goal is to use a client-centered approach based on their needs to help them explore, heal and grow into a healthy and happy mindset.

Get To Know Me Personally

  • To take care of myself, I make sure that I take time out of my day to spend time with my family, get in at least 30 minutes of exercise and get a full night of rest.

  • As an immigrant woman, I understand that life transitions can be difficult. I have had my own obstacles that I wanted to overcome, as many people do, and luckily, I was able to reach those goals with the support I had from my loved ones. I know there are many people out there that unfortunately do not have access to the same support I did, so I want to be that anchor for those who need it. Emotions and changes can be scary, and I would like to provide a safe and comforting environment to help individuals process their healing journey.

  • I am proud of myself for going back to school after becoming a mom of 3 to complete my degrees. Coming from a traditional immigrant family, I wasn’t immediately able to go to university, and I was lucky to have met my supportive husband who took care of our kids while I went back to finish my schooling. Since having my kids, I finished two degrees, and have also completed several shorter programs at various schools, while balancing being a mom and full-time employee in the health care sector.

  • A police officer. I always thought that the police were the ones responsible for keeping people safe. As I grew up, I learned that being safe reaches beyond the physical aspect – many of us need to feel safe emotionally and mentally too!

  • I am usually spending time with my kids and husband. I love cooking as well, so you’ll likely catch me in the kitchen on a typical day. Beyond that, I love travelling (especially to hot, sunny places!) and going to the gym or outside for a walk.

  • Counselling is not just for people dealing with extreme issues. It can be a form of self-care and becoming more aware of who you are on the inside. In a way it helps you get to know yourself better and learn new skills to overcome internal and external conflicts, whatever they may be. In a world as busy as ours, where we are constantly thinking about other people, many of us oftentimes forget to get to know the most important person in life – yourself!

  • Seeing the growth in clients. As we move through our sessions and build a routine, it is always amazing to look at where the journey started and how they have become empowered to face their fears. Growth is easily one of the most fascinating parts of being a counsellor, and watching my clients flourish on their own is always a proud moment for me.

  • Kind and caring while providing a non-judgemental environment.

  • “Your mind will always believe everything you tell it. Feed it hope. Feed it truth. Feed it with love.”
