Each person we encounter on a daily basis has a story. We may feel alone, inadequate, different or like no one understands. Stress, worrying thoughts and self-doubt can be exhausting. We are not alone in our struggles and the healing and empowerment that comes from talking to another person who will listen to your story and work with you to bring change and improvement in overall quality of life can be monumental. As a counsellor, I believe you are the expert in your story and experience and you have the full potential to bring about positive change and live a more meaningful and enjoyable life.
I have my MA in Psychology and have extensive training in child and youth mental health. I have worked with families for over 13 years. I engage with individuals with a collaborative, non-judgmental approach and will work with you to sort through the issues that are a barrier to reaching your full potential. I believe this is done through trusting communication and a comfortable, open environment and therapeutic relationship. I am skilled in the following approaches: cognitive behavioural therapy, attachment, family systems, dialectical behavioural therapy informed, psychodynamic therapy and mindfulness based cognitive therapy. Rather than those approaches implying a level of skill, they are meant to describe a variety of skills and tools to walk with you through the most difficult times and facilitate learning different ways of approaching life, relationships and thought patterns.
