Registered Clinical Counsellor, #16558
MA, RCC, CCC
Anxiety & Depression
I have a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree and have both my RCC (#16558) and CCC (#10004433) memberships. I have an undergraduate degree in nursing and have experience in working with patients on a burns and plastic surgery unit and as a hospice nurse. Through my experience as a nurse I have come to recognize the healing impact of being in connection, emotionally cared for, and being heard has on individuals.
My approach to counselling is relational and attachment focused. I draw from Gestalt Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also utilize trauma-informed perspectives and am trained in Lifespan Integration Therapy to process trauma. I have a passion for being in connection with individuals and listening to them without judgement. I deeply recognize the vulnerability of clients sharing their stories, lives, and pain with me and I am honored to hold that space with clients and to work together to find new ways of being. I believe in building secure relationships with my clients that are built on trust, compassion, empathy, and mutual respect that allows individuals to feel heard and cared about, and encouraged to create positive change in their lives. I believe in approaching health holistically. I am passionate about working alongside individuals who are experiencing health issues and would like to explore their emotions and thoughts with someone who will listen and care. When given a health diagnosis there are many thoughts and emotions that may arise and it can be difficult to experience them alone. Emotional health can impact physical health and by attuning to our emotional health we may be able to support our immune system which may led to preventing illness and may aid in healing. When we begin to heal mentally and emotionally, we can begin to experience ourselves and the world around us with renewed hope and clarity. We all need supportive people in our lives, that we can confide in. I would be honoured to meet you where ever you are on your journey and walk alongside you.
On a personal note, some of my favourite things are: reading, listening to podcasts, spending time with my family in nature hiking, biking, walking in the sand at the beach, and appreciating the ocean. I love travelling, and learning about new cultures and food.
If you choose to explore counselling with me, my hope in our time together is that you feel truly seen and heard and have renewed hope. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation to clients so you can get to know me a little bit to decide if working with me is a fit for you.
