Registered Social Worker (#13234)

Life at times can be overwhelming and stressful for individuals. You may feel hopeless, lack motivation and overall feel stuck in a situation. This can be a difficult time for both for yourself and the ones around you. However, know that there is someone there to help you through these tough times and continue forth with your journey.
The idea of counselling can be daunting to some individuals as there are many unknowns to be explored especially with someone who you barely know. It is an essential part of my practice to build rapport with my clients to ensure that there is an empathic relationship established to help you work on your therapeutic goals. Together we can begin to have a better understanding of one’s self and the environment around us.
I believe to great extent in the notion of resiliency, which in essence means to recover from difficult experiences. It may not be an easy task to take part in, but it is possible. Change can be scary, but together, we can begin to notice that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I use a variety of approaches to help clients work on themselves. Approaches include but are not limited to: cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectic behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, emotion-focused, strength based approach, and solution focused therapies. I try to gain a better understanding of what your individual goals are for therapy and take the above approaches to help you attain them. Discussions, activities, both in the office and outside in the community, as well as home practice are all a part of the therapeutic approach. I strive to help individuals gain knowledge, skills, and reflect to help them have a better understanding of themselves and the world around them.
I am a Registered Social Worker who has been working with children, youth, and their families for the past ten years.
